The Emergency Department at Western Health and Social Care Trust faced persistent challenges with guideline access. Clinicians wasted valuable time searching for guidelines, faced difficulties accessing them on certain computers, and often struggled with limited computer availability in the busy department environment.
The process of uploading and organising information on Eolas Medical was described as very straightforward. Staff were given access quickly after requesting it and could immediately begin using the platform's resources. Positive feedback was received within days of the department starting to use Eolas Medical.
The platform has significantly reduced the time staff spend searching for information. Having guidelines accessible on smartphones rather than relying solely on trust computers has been a major advantage, particularly in a fast-paced emergency department where computer access can be limited. Clinicians can now find the information they need more quickly and conveniently than ever before.
Eolas Medical has proven particularly beneficial during the go-live of Encompass, the trust's implementation of Epic. The platform can be accessed directly from within Epic, and the team has used it to host flowsheets and user tips for the new electronic health record system — providing clinicians with a readily accessible resource during a major period of change.
User numbers and the volume of documents accessed have increased each month since launch, demonstrating growing engagement and adoption across the department. Informal feedback from staff has been consistently positive.
The department rated staff satisfaction 5 out of 5, the highest possible score, alongside strong ratings of 4 out of 5 for both team efficiency and ease of information access.
