Before Eolas, the ED team found it difficult to locate videos and Word documents detailing pathways specific to their department. With new SHOs rotating in every couple of months, there was a constant need for an accessible, centralised resource that could bring incoming doctors up to speed quickly.

Implementation Experience

Implementation took only a few weeks. The team had approximately 15 pre-made videos ready for immediate upload, and one of their SpRs created and uploaded additional documents over the following two months. The platform was well received from the outset, with the team lead noting they liked it straight away.

Efficiency and Speed

Video access through the platform takes approximately one minute, providing quick access to department-specific content. The team plans to expand their use of Eolas further, which they expect will continue to improve efficiency over time.

Guideline Adherence and Patient Care

The platform has contributed to improved guideline adherence through practical, real-world use cases. A notable example involves the Therapy-Led Hand Clinic, which accepts only specific conditions. The Hand Clinic team created a video specifying exactly what cases they would accept — serving both as a team-building exercise and as a daily reference tool. The ED lead uses it regularly to determine whether cases are appropriate for referral, resulting in more appropriate referrals to the specialist clinic.

Staff feedback has been positive, with senior nursing staff particularly valuing Eolas as a platform for their educational material. The team intends to expand their use of the platform going forward.
