Division of Acute Care Surgery
Setting
Hospital – Specialty Surgical Service
Tool Introduced
Eolas Medical Platform
Primary Uses
Clinical protocol access, resident onboarding, guideline adherence
The Challenge
With up to 20 new residents rotating through each month, the Acute Care Surgery team faced major hurdles:
• No consistent or organized way to deliver orientation
• Difficulty accessing clinical protocols in real time
• Wasted time searching for key documents and orders
• Reduced adherence to standardized procedures
The Solution
Using Eolas, the department created a centralised space where learners could access orientation materials, protocols, and guidelines instantly. A QR code was sent out before each rotation, enabling residents to familiarise themselves with the service before arriving.
Results and Impact
Efficiency: Clinicians now find protocols quickly through intuitive search and structured layout
Adherence: Residents reference Eolas at the bedside, ensuring they follow the correct care pathways
Onboarding: The platform serves as a virtual orientation hub, reducing the need for repeated manual inductions
Example: For patients with splenic injuries, residents now check the app directly to confirm the correct protocol and orders.
